[Rin snorts at the brevity of the response (he hadn't really expected any other reply), and slides right in after him. he's not so naive as to assume it'll all be as easy as that -- feelings were hard to contain, and jealousy and love and resentment were the hardest ones to capture of all. standing in the shallow lane, Rin shifts his goggles up into his hair, making his bangs part stupidly, and steps after Haru before he can swim away]

-- Haru.

[the water makes it easier, somehow, to wrap his arms around Haru in a proper hug. it's not quite the same as an after-relay race hug, high on adrenaline, but it's just as strong and insistent. he's... grateful. whatever regard Haru has for him, it's not nothing. it's not rejection and dismissal; Haru still wants to chase his dream right beside Rin, and that's all he's really ever wanted, whatever confusing feelings he'd had before aside]

Thanks. For being honest.

[and not just shutting me out, discarding me, writing me off as secondary and unimportant; it must have been a tempting prospect, Rin thinks. who is he, to compare to Makoto? somebody, according to Haru, and maybe that's enough for Rin to believe it]

It -- means a lot.

[maybe too much; their relationship, even if Rin doesn't return Haru's feelings, will always be an intense one. Haru's involvement in his life is so central to the things Rin holds most important, and while he understands Haru losing Makoto would be worse than anything, Rin losing Haru -- has, fucked him up badly once already. he doesn't ever want to feel like that again]
